New generation of Spring Guides

27. 07. 2019

We made our first generation of spring guides from aircraft aluminum, but even with high strength of this material, there was some cases where it just broke up. The reason were thin walls in place where thread is and also where axial bearings are. This is the reason why we started some long-term experiments with one goal - make the spring guide completely from steel.  We did not want to make them because of one reason and that was deforming aluminum by steel in the gearboxes. We tought that the steel spring guide will destroy the surface of the gearbox during fire in the place, where it sits in the gearbox.

But after long time testings, these fears did not went true and we can happily say, that we made the best spring guide. Our spring guide is manufactured from two steel parts milled on CNC machine from C45 (12 050) material and they are connected by solid thread. Turning the spring is made by special made axial bearing with 14.5mm diameter (instead of standard 15mm diameter). This is made as a problem solver for pistons with lower diameters (we will explain this in another article). All parts of the steel spring guide are sanded after milling process, so they can have nice and smooth surface that will not damage softer gearbox material.

Whole spring guide has surface hardening with Tenifer surface finishing. This hardening is usually applied on the real firearms. Only disadvantage is higher manufacturing cost of this product.

These new generation spring guides are in stock on our internet store and they are included in our newest generations CNC gearboxes.
